Worldwide Mech Battles...Coming Soon

Unless you have been living under a rock for the last year you might have heard word of a little event that's...

...ONLY the Worlds First Giant Mech Battle!

Yeah, it's not a big deal at all.

Well prepare yourself because MegaBots, the team behind the massive 15-foot tall, 12,000lb robot dubbed Mk. II has just announced a major step in their Crowdfunder Campaign.

They have been approached to ensure that the Battle between USA and Japan isn't only going to be a grand spectacle that'll be a once in a lifetime event, no, they are now responsible to help make sure that more fights happen in the near future to make the once fantasy of Giant Robot Mech Battles a real regular sporting event.

WOW!

That's right, we are on the cusp of witnessing the birth of very real and very mental Worldwide Sporting Events involving Giant Mechs smashing each other in spectacular Battles of glory and honor (with a good helping of plain stupidity)...sign me up!

Robot Arena Finally Gains Third Outing

13 years has passed by since Robot Arena 2 was created by Gabrielle Interactive and published with the help of the now defunct Infogrames.

It may not have been a great game but it was exceptional and the only Robot Combat game that used a decent physics system.
One thing that had let the game down was the Multiplayer connectivity, I was lucky enough to play on a handful of matches without lag or disconnection, finding a game was not easy either and joining one even harder.

But Robot Arena 2 had stood the test of time due to it's "Moddability Factor" resulting in Such modifications as "DSL2.2" and "Robot Wars RA2" also the GameTechMods had kept the small community of Robot Builders alive and kicking.

With the sudden and unexpected announcement of Robot Arena 3 by Gabrielle Interactive it came as a big surprise to most, though after much thought I came to the conclusion that Battlebots 2015 had inspired a Robot Arena 3 game.

The general style and layout the new game has, simply has the feel of a BattleBot fans dream come true.

Browsing through the Robot Arena 3 Thread on GTM and people were speculating that it may be a big hoax because after months of waiting there still no updated news or information until once again out of nowhere the Robot Arena 3 had updated with concept art and a teaser trailer this was finally confirmation that the game was certainly real!

From what I saw the demonstration is very basic stuff so it is likely an early build of the game from last year, apart from the chassis construction that has evolved somewhat from its predecessor offering the player more flexibility and creativity.
The selection of grounds to fight on also look interesting from large outside environments to smaller indoor more conventional arenas.

The trailer doesn't show any robots battling only robots moving about perhaps the combat and damage physics still needs more work, as a teaser though it shows great potential.

One thing I would like to see is the limitation of the number of robots at any one time from 4 to either 6 to 12...hell maybe even 15 just because who doesn't love a good robot Rumble/Annihilator special!

The official release will be on the 26th May 2016 available on Steam to purchase (price as yet unconfirmed) with Steam Workshop support.
